Joey Gaydos Jr.

Metro Detroit native Joey Gaydos, Jr. started playing guitar at just three years old. When a video of him playing his guitar with friends got into the hands of a film representative, he was asked to audition to be one of the talented children that make up Jack Black's student band in the family musical comedy "The School of Rock." Released in 2003, the film told the story of an aspiring musician, Dewey Finn (Black), who has recently been kicked out of his band. In need of money to help kick start his music career, Finn takes a job as a substitute teacher, determined to turn his class of prep school students into a winning rock band to enter into a local contest. Gaydos, Jr. plays the role of Zack Mooneyham, dubbed "Zack-Attack" by Finn, a shy student who becomes lead guitarist of the band, despite his father's wishes. He made appearances on shows such as "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Saturday Night Live" as himself to promote the film, which remains his only motion picture credit. Following his film debut, he returned to music, starting his own band called The JoeyGaydos Group, a musical trio, and released an album with the group in 2006.
