The prince and princess escape the palace to go out and see the town festival; they run into trouble at a tavern, but are saved by Hong Juwon.

Haneum finds out that the king is developing weapons to fight the Ming in secret; Youngchang and his side of the family are all charged with treason.

Jungmyung runs away from the palace after the queen realizes that it was the princess the prophecy was talking about; Juwon and Haneum comes to save the princess.

The princess is held captive on a slave ship headed to Japan; she is then sold to mine sulfur with other people from Joseon.
