In ancient times, the human emperor Zhao Ming (Vin Zhang) sacrificed himself to protect humanity from the divine realm. Hun Dun Zhu (Sun Zhen Ni), his beloved, saved a fragment of his soul, initiating an eternal cycle of reincarnation. In a future life, Zhao Ming was reborn as Xie Xue Chen, leader of the Immortal Alliance, while Hun Dun Zhu became Mu Xuan Ling, the Holy Maiden of the Dark Domain.
