Benz Antoine

The Montreal-born actor Benz Antoine has parlayed his good looks and striking height into a great number of parts since he began acting. The oldest of three children, after graduating from high school Benz attended Concordia University. After switching his major from Economics to Philosophy, he discovered a talent for hip-hop and began performing as an MC. In 1993, he took his first role as a businessman in a corporate training video and he hasn't looked back since. He had his first major movie role playing the Crabman in Jet Li's 2000 action movie "Romeo Must Die," and since then has featured in many projects every year. One of his biggest breakthroughs was as a guard in the Halle Berry-starring thriller "Gothika." Some of his most notable roles include playing Black Panther leader Bobby Seale in Todd Hayne's unconventional Bob Dylan biopic "I'm Not There" and the navigator in the 2008 remake of "Death Race." Antoine has also worked heavily on television, with recurring parts on "Blue Murder" and the Canadian miniseries "At The Hotel," as well as guest spots on "Rookie Blue" and "The Firm." He is currently producing a documentary called "The Maple Leaf," about Canada's entertainment industry. In addition to acting, Antoine also wrote, produced and directed the 2009 short film "One Love."
