Threatened with the destruction of Earth and having failed in his attempts to sabotage Scorpius’ wormhole project, Crichton realises that his only option is to destroy the Command Carrier. D’Argo, Chiana, Rygel and Jool decide to flee while they still can. No sooner have they reluctantly agreed to abandon ship when Crichton bursts in on their meeting and reveals his new plan. Surprisingly, it is Rygel – the only one of them who witnessed the horror of the Scarrans’ use of wormhole technology - who convinces them to change their minds and agree to help Crichton.

Claiming that he has elected to side with the Peacekeepers against the Scarrans, Crichton manages- with some help from the Scorpy clone - to lead Scorpius to believe that he is aboard the Command Carrier to help him master wormhole technology.
