Gabriel Sabourin

Gabriel Sabourin

The son of celebrated Québécois actor and director Marcel Sabourin ("J.A. Martin, Photographe" (1977), "Lilies" (1996)), it was hardly surprising that Gabriel would follow in his father's footsteps. After graduating from the National Theatre School of Canada in 1994, he quickly made his name performing across Montreal's theatre circuit, notably playing Mercutio in Théâtre du Monde's 1999 production of "Romeo and Juliet."Bit parts on a variety of TV shows soon followed, as well as small roles in feature films "Histoire de Famille" (2006) and Ghyslaine Côté's 2006 comedy, "A Family Secret," alongside Joëlle Morin. By the end of the noughties, Sabourin had appeared in Radio-Canada's popular series "La Galère" (2007-) and, of course, "Trauma."Having turned his hand to screenwriting, Sabourin shared writing credits with friend and fellow National Theatre School graduate Louis Champagne and director Stefan Miljevic for "Amsterdam" (2013), a thriller about three friends on an escapist trip to the Dutch capital. Sabourin and Champagne received widespread acclaim for their portrayal of protagonists Jeff and Marc in the midst of their disintegrating web of lies, with critics comparing the film to a darker sequel to Todd Phillips' "The Hangover" (2009). The feature marked a move toward further writing projects for Sabourin.
