The Raneys turn the cameras on themselves as they shelter on their Alaskan homestead. Marty tracks the predators of a moose kill found near their cabin.
The intense winter has frozen the water supply on the homestead, forcing Marty to hunt for a new water source. In Hawaii, Matt and Katie are harvesting cacao.
The Raneys pass on essential skills to the next generation. And, they check in via video with homesteaders who built a house with 30,000 rubber tyres.
In Alaska, Marty rescues his property from a deluge of snow runoff. In Hawaii, Matt builds a human-sized slingshot to bring down invasive trees.
Marty embarks on a dangerous self-shot mission to carve a road up 300-ft cliffs. And, Misty enlists her family to build a predator-proof coop for the chickens.
Spring arrives and the family self-shoots preparation for the epic expansion of their homestead. Misty plots a huge greenhouse to feed three generations.
