Exploring the connection between drugs and crime. Governor Ethel Gavin describes the problem of drugs in The Midlands Prison, as well as what efforts are being made to keep drugs out and discovering how they are smuggled in.

We will examine the issue of violence within the prison system. We will witness some of the most dramatic events that have taken place in the prison over recent times - from major searches to weapons finds to break glass incidents - and discover how officers responded to these events. We will learn about how officers are trained in Control & Restraint and follow them through a day at training camp.

The final episode of the series will query whether rehabilitation is possible for prisoners in the Irish system. We will meet some of the staff in the Midlands Prison who work with prisoners to help them break the cycle of crime and criminality.
