When she unearths an ancient amulet while in Egypt with her family, Theo begins to suspect that the relic might be cursed; after returning home to London, a burglary attempt leads Theo to question everything.

Now certain that her father, Alistair, has been cursed, Theo's desperate search for answers is interrupted by the arrival of Safiya; an Egyptian princess who could be the family's ticket back to the Valley of the Kings.

After recovering an ancient book of spells, Theo puts her newfound powers to the test to defeat her father's curse; when the magic works a little too well, Theo must rescue a transformed Safiya from being sent away for good.
