Inspired by the book "Memories of Anne Frank: Reflections of a Childhood Friend' by Alison Leslie Gold the films tells the story of the friendship between Anne Frank and Hanneli Goslar. Recounting how Hanneli and Anne met in Amsterdam, the beginning of anti-Jewish laws, German occupation and the disappearances of friends and family and their reunion in the prison camp in Bergen Belsen.
