“Argentina 2001” reveals the behind-the-scenes decisions and events that led Argentina to its most severe economic crisis and largest social uprising since the country’s return to democracy. Based on journalist Miguel Bonasso’s book ‘El Palacio y la Calle’, this series recreates the final days of President Fernando de la Rúa’s government and the looting and citizen uprisings that gripped Argentina in his hasty departure, as examined through the maneuvering of Javier Cach, a political appointee and chief of cabinet of the de la Rúa administration. Cach proves to be a principal player and intermediary with the opposition party as he seeks to overcome the economic and governability crisis that envelops him. Through six episodes, we will unwrap the structures of power and alliances formed in the critical moments that would ultimately spark the social uprising of December 2001.
