While out, Koyomi Araragi encounters Tsubasa Hanekawa, whose face is covered with a bandage. Koyomi learns what has been happening in the Hanekawa family, but Tsubasa begs him not to tell anyone, saying she’ll do anything to keep him quiet.

Koyomi pays a visit to Meme Oshino, who asks him how Hanekawa has been lately. Meme tells Koyomi to go immediately to confirm Hanekawa’s safety. Koyomi heads to Hanekawa’s house, only to find... So begins the nightmarish nine days of Golden Week…

As the Sawari Neko continues attacking victim after victim, rumors begin spreading around town. In the midst of this, Koyomi encounters the Sawari Neko once again and learns why it attacks people and what its ultimate intentions are.

Though the Sawari Neko warns Koyomi, “If you want to help my master, stay out of my way,” Koyomi begs Shinobu to lend him the apparition-killing sword called “Kokoro Watari.” With it, Koyomi formulates a secret plan and goes to defeat the Sawari Neko.

During the month of October of his third year in high school, Koyomi Araragi is introduced to a transfer student named Ougi Oshino.

In the aftermath of the previous day, Araragi is about to enter his classroom when Hanekawa informs him that a student absent all year is finally attending.
