Mampato, a boy who loves reading science-fiction stories, soon becomes the main character of one, when he sees an alien spaceship crash.
In his first adventure with the space-time belt, Mampato travels to the past and meets a prehistoric man called Ogú, member of the Golagolas.
After escaping from the angry Golagolas, Mampato and Ogú set out on a journey to the town of the Kilikilis, a race of primitive creatures who fight against the Golagolas over fire control.
After being saved by a Kilikili, Mampato and Ogú arrive at the town of these strange creatures and learn their secrets to use fire. Ogú and Mampato will have to solve the conflict between the Golagolas and the Kilikilis.
After his teacher tells him about the wonders of the future, Mampato uses his space-time belt to visit the year 4000. There he meets Rena, a mutant telepath of the 'peliblancos' tribe.
