Kenny Wayne Shepherd

Self-taught guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. He had an interest in music from early childhood and started playing guitar in earnest at age seven. His talent earned him a multiple album record deal after playing onstage for the first time with blues musician Bryan Lee at age thirteen. In 1998, Shepherd began collaborating with singer Noah Hunt in the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band. Shepherd went on to put seven singles into the Top 10 during his career, being nominated for five Grammy Awards and winning two Billboard Music Awards, two Blues Music Awards and two Orville H. Gibson Awards. His DVD-CD project, "10 Days Out: Blues from the Backroads" (2007), was critically acclaimed and paid homage to the greats of the genre. In 2013, Shepherd, along with Stephen Stills and Barry Goldberg, formed the band The Rides, under which he released two albums.
