Little Feat were formed at the very end of the 60s by Lowell George (vocals, guitar), Roy Estrada (bass) (both formerly of Frank Zappas Mothers), Richard Hayward (drums) and Billy Payne (keyboards). After a shaky start with two unsuccessful albums the group restructured with Estrada leaving to be replaced by Kenny Gradney and the addition of guitarist Paul Barrere and percussionist Sam Clayton. This now stable line-up continued until 1979 when the band split. Lowell George died halfway through a solo tour later that year.The band reformed in 1988 and have released several albums and toured consistently since. The current line-up consists of Payne, Barrere, Hayward, Gradney and Clayton with the addition of guitarist Fred Tackett and vocalist Shaun Murphy.
