Her Majesty

Alfonso XIV, the king of Spain, is forced to abdicate in favour of his daughter to distance himself from public opinion due to a scandal. The problem is that the princess is an irresponsible, superficial young woman who loves to party.

After a few days at the head of the royal household, Pilar hears rumours about a comedian who mocks her father in a show on Gran Vía. The Spanish intelligence services tell Pilar that her best friend has compromising information about her.

To improve her public image, Pilar asks to be named a distinguished alumnus of Queen Carolina University, the place where her mother studied. However, Pilar never studied there and Guillermo has to convince the rector to do so.

With Guillermo in tow, Pilar hosts her first inauguration of the judicial year. Guillermo learns that news outlets plan to publish that some of King Alfonso XIV's wealth can be traced back to his dealings with criminal dictators.

Guillermo looks for references to the princess in the memoir that Prince Richard, heir to the British crown, has just published. When Prince Richard arrives in Madrid to promote his book, Pilar decides to pay him a visit.

Pilar travels to Guillermo's village for his mother's funeral. Upon her arrival, she discovers that she is a celebrity to the locals because they are still monarchists.
