Westermann: Memorial to the Idea of Man If He Was an Idea

Westermann: Memorial to the Idea of Man If He Was an Idea is a documentary film about the life and work of H. C. ("Cliff") Westermann, an artist, acrobat, and Marine. Voice-acted by four-time Academy Award nominee Ed Harris, the film was conceived and directed by Leslie Buchbinder and features interviews with Ed Ruscha, Frank Gehry, and other close artist friends and family members. Westermann, a veteran who served on the front lines of World War II and the Korean War, created beguiling, surreal artworks from the crucible of his immense internal struggles with the ramifications of modern warfare. The film is executive-produced by international art icon KAWS and award-winning documentary producer Caryn Capotosto. Westermann features music by legendary artists Laurie Anderson, the Kronos Quartet, and Terry Allen, along with an original score by MacArthur "Genius Grant" recipient Tomeka Reid.
