Edward Atterton

An English actor who has had some success in the United States, Edward Atterton once acted alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Jeremy Irons in the lavish 1998 remake of "The Man in the Iron Mask." Atterton, who is an accomplished stage performer, was a choral scholar at Trinity College in Cambridge and played Marius in "Les Miserables." His first television credit came in 1993 with a guest appearance on the mystery "Agatha Christie's Poirot," and soon after landed a recurring role as house officer, Dr. Alex Taylor on the hospital drama "Medics." His other TV roles in the 1990s include an appearance on the historical mini-series "The Scarlet and the Black" and the role of Gringoire in the TV film "The Hunchback." His starring role in the 1996 independent film "Far Harbor" helped him land a role in the Alexandre Dumas adaptation "The Man in the Iron Mask." Atterton's increased celebrity led to more work stateside, including a starring role on the crime series "Three" and two appearances on the Jennifer Garner action show "Alias." He also had a co-starring role in the Noel Coward comedy feature "Relative Values," and a supporting part in the sci-fi mini-series "Children of Dune" in 2003.
