Günesi Gördüm
The fate of the Altun family is typical of the 2.5 million Kurds driven from their homeland in the southeast of Turkey. This is the story of the family’s forced migration from the region and the displaced lives they later lead in Istanbul, at the opposite end of the country, and still further away in Norway. To the Altuns, the land they know as home is heaven on earth, but a war of 25 years has poisoned that, making everyday life hell. One of the Altun sons, a soldier doing national service, meets his guerrilla brother head-on in a mountainside clash. Their youngest brother, a cripple, has been legless since stepping on a land-mine. Eventually, these last remaining Kurdish families are levered off the land and forced to migrate to the big city... Back in the thick of the war, the young Kadri, another of the Altun sons, has always had to suppress his gender orientation. But his new life in the big city finally gives him the freedom to express himself sexually. He identifies the impassioned and ultimately self-sacrificial journey of the snowdrops to "see the sun" with his own destiny...
