Drama series about a curmudgeonly country doctor and his patients in Cornwall. Martin and Louisa do not seem to be having much success with their therapy, so Dr Timoney advises that they should try and take things back to the beginning of their relationship and plan a date. Danny, Louisa's ex-boyfriend, arrives from London with seven children to camp on Ruth's farm. Louisa feels she has to help her old friend out, even though this further adds to her load. Martin is not at all pleased when Danny proceeds to try and intervene in their troubled relationship. Things are going slightly better for Mrs Tishell and Clive. Bert's whisky still is discovered and Penhale is keen to lay down the law. Martin and Louisa are left wondering if anything will ever go right for them. Then Martin uncovers a health scare at James's party, all the guests leave very quickly and not even Ruth's birthday cake can keep them there.
The Doctor comes face to face with Danny, an old flame of Louisa's who has returned to the village to visit his ageing mother, but the two fail to get along. Plus, is there a mugger in the village?
Doc Martin visits the Flint brothers at the remote country home they share with their mother and father. Wallace and Paddy have been suffering chronic stomach disorders and a blood test confirms they have salmonella poisoning.
Martin is surprised when his parents visit out of the blue, but they bring unwelcome tidings for all, especially Aunt Joan.
Mark is forced to investigate his fiancée's past when a stranger arrives in the village with a mysterious photo.
