Incisive character actress trained in New York and London. Audley began appearing on the London stage in 1940 and in films and TV shows from the mid-1950s. Her screen credits include Sidney Franklin's "The Barretts of Wimpole Street" (1956), Laurence Olivier's "The Prince and the Showgirl" (1957), Charles Chaplin's "A King in New York" (1957), Carol Reed's "Our Man in Havana" (1960), John Huston's "Sinful Davey" (1969), and Terrence Fisher's "Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed" (1969). Audley was particularly memorable as the heroine's blind mother in Michael Powell's unnerving cult classic, "Peeping Tom" (1960).
