The film revolves around a lower caste guy who follows his two friends to a village – Jhanjhar in Bihar, his native place, to watch Ramleela. The 3 students from Delhi University go missing in the dusty village. 3 months pass with no clue as to where the young students may have gone. The media and various student movements move towards the search, and it is then that the government appoints CBI officers Sidhant Chaturvedi and Pratap Kumar to find the truth. As a person residing in Bihar, Pratap understands the intricacies of race relations in small towns like Jhanjhar. Pratap tries his charm and wit to crack the investigation, whereas Sidhant has a no nonsense approach to his investigation.Investigating in Jhanjhar becomes a tough task for these officers as the local police force headed by Bhura Ram, with the help of local MP’s and landlords run a major branch of the Shool Sena. The two officers cannot break the ice with local low caste community members, due to years of highly planned Shool sena attacks. Roshni (the daughter of the most powerful and richest person of the village) helps to reveal certain realities and direction for the investigation.Soon, the investigation causes mayhem, with riots, burning houses and the killing of peasants in broad daylight. Slowly Pratap, with Siddhant’s help starts cracking the case by exerting his influence upon Geeta (a victim of the same inhumanity), who acts as the final key to the investigation. How Pratap and Sidhant solve this mysterious case is explained with a chain of exciting, funny and intelligent events that form the climax of the story.
