S1, E2: Ashley joins the Hayes team of Heli-loggers, living on a floating barge near the scenic islands of Toba Inlet in British Columbia and is put to the test by his butch mentor, Greg. Being flown to work in a helicopter must be most boys' dream job, even if it is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world with the highest injury and death rates in Canada and the US. Ashley's initiation to the job on his first day involves him competing against his new colleagues in a log burling competition and ends up with him falling into the freezing cold glacial waters. Before Ashley's final tree-felling test he must learn to hook tenders, drive sidewinders, chaise chokers and stamp logs. Ashley's week is filled with the fear that he could easily fall 500 feet or be crushed like a twig by a falling tree. By the end, though, Ashley not only learns the art of axe throwing but he personally fells a 200 foot tall cedar tree that is over 6 foot wide.
