S3 E8: As Laura (Mary McDonnell) plans to boost morale by celebrating Adama’s (Edward James Olmos) 40th year of service, the Admiral’s world is thrown into turmoil by the appearance of a pilot he thought was dead. Three years ago, Lt. Daniel Novacek (Carl Lumbly) was believed to have been killed on a top-secret mission in Cylon territory under Adama’s command. Now, after enduring three years in a Cylon prison, Novacek has escaped, stolen a Raider, and made his way to Galactica. His arrival forces Adama to confront his betrayal of one of his pilots and the possibility that his actions may have provoked the Cylon attack on the Colonies.
