On the Main Road of America

S1 E1: From Chicago in the east to Los Angeles in the west - in songs, novels and for Route 66 fans, it only goes in one direction. Only a few miles this legendary highway squeezes through the gorges of the metropolis on Lake Michigan, then it becomes a country road for almost 4,000 kilometers through "smalltown America", through the vast country of farms and small towns.
