S4 E5: Co-founder and CEO of PostNet, and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Steve Greenbaum oversees the fastest-growing company that helps small businesses with everything they need to thrive – from printing and shipping to graphic design. Steve started the company in Las Vegas, but it soon grew larger than he ever imagined. Born in Chicago and from a poor family, Steve had a rough childhood – his parents divorced, and his father took his three brothers to Las Vegas, abandoning Steve with his mom. Steve dropped out of high school and left Chicago, never to return. Steve’s brother Lenny, his idol growing up, soon passed away after a lengthy fight with drug and alcohol abuse. Now as an adult, Steve has three kids, two sons and a daughter, with whom he has never shared that he left high school, for fear that they would follow his path. Steve achieved unexpected success with PostNet and he never looked back on his past. Steve’s philosophy is to look forward and not back. Steve will be going undercover as a failed motorcycle shop owner. Steve’s wife is moved by Steve’s gritty undercover biker disguise and how much he resembles his lost brother Lenny. PostNet was hit hard by the recession because less people are starting small businesses. PostNet is a franchise organization, meaning every branch is owned individually by a franchisee. Franchisees aren’t re-upping their agreements to stay in the PostNet family, which is hurting business. Steve wants to find out how he can change this trend.
