S5 E11: Only the finest will do for the daughter of a wealthy businessman. Sabrina has always dreamt of having a fairy-tale wedding similar to Princess Diana’s, so from the moment she became engaged to Danish, she and her family began planning a royal event. They even hired a wedding planner who used to work for the royal family of Saudi Arabia, Kathy Jo Peterson. Also part of the team is Beverly Hills event planner Ricardo Luna, whose elegant floral designs are known throughout the world. In Sabrina and Danish’s Indian culture, a wedding is not just a one-day event. Several days before the union, hundreds of their friends and family gather at a four-star hotel in L.A. to begin the celebration. First up is the “mehendi”, a centuries-old tradition welcoming the bride’s entry to womanhood with food, dancing, music and henna painting. Over 700 guests will be attending their wedding at a gorgeous ocean-side resort and Ricardo Luna has his work cut out decorating the outdoor ceremony area, as well as the magnificent ballroom where the reception will be held. Thousands of orange roses grace the columns and pillars throughout the property, and crystals and candles are added everywhere to add that special element of “bling.” Sabrina’s dress has a fifteen-foot train and is encrusted with crystals and pearls. But the most amazing thing the bride will be wearing is her wedding jewelry, which contains 55 carats of diamonds and 20 carats of pearls- all handmade for her by the family’s private jeweler. Their wedding cake is worthy of a princess as well: it’s designed like a “castle” with three towers, and stands over six feet tall! Decorated with gold frosting and edible crystals, it cost $20,000. The royal event includes a white Cinderella-style horse and carriage, which whisks the couple away from the ceremony to take their wedding photos at sunset, overlooking the ocean. All in all, a spectular platinum event!
