S2 E7: Valerie Bessinger, a glamourous jet-setter, is conducting learning experiments with Eddie and other children for an article. Valerie and Tom Corbett become romantically involved, and Tom begins thinking of marriage until Valerie breaks a promise to the children by accepting a job in Washington. Tom understands that projects rather than people are more important to Valerie.
