Chapter One: Betrayal

S4 E1: With the casino gone and her friendship with Quiet Ann in tatters, Desna is prepared to return to her roots as a money laundering nail mogul. But when Palmetto starts to undergo gentrification, the salon’s rent is tripled. Unwilling to give up on her American Dream, Desna decides to sell opiates herself, propelling her further into a world of criminality and setting her up as Uncle Daddy’s rival. When she and her crew steal Uncle Daddy’s supply of pills, a war between the two drug dealers is ignited, starting Desna down the road to becoming a true gangster. The conflict is quickly escalated when Quiet Ann, unable to find a job and still blaming Desna for her wife’s death, joins Uncle Daddy’s operation. Meanwhile, Dean’s search for his true calling leads him to launch a strip Q&A on Instagram, and Polly torches her former lover Joe’s car in a bid for closure.
