Saying goodbye can be a hard thing to do. Amar, a 10-year-old boy living in Morocco, must say goodbye to his widowed mother when she travels to Belgium to remarry. Left to live with an abusive uncle, Amar finds himself bullied at home and at school. This pitiful condition captures the attention of a Spanish refugee named Carmen who befriends the boy, and while serving as an usher at the local cinema exposes Amar to the wondrous world of film. Their friendship grows, but as situations at home and abroad change they may be forced to say goodbye as well.
