Bleak Night

Bleak Night

Available on Prime Video
A teacher desperate to discover the cause of his son’s death soon learns he knew far less about his son than he had ever realized. High school student Ki Tae (Lee Je Hoon from Tomorrow With You and Signal) commits suicide. His father, a teacher (Jo Sung Ha from The K2), feels tremendous guilt. He believes this happened because he was absent from his son’s life. In order to figure out what caused his son’s death, the teacher tracks down his best friends, Baek Hee Joon (Park Jung Min from Entourage) and Dong Yoon (Suh Joon Young from Unemployed Romance). He hopes they can provide some answers. Hee Joon, the first boy who meets the teacher, is evasive. He insists that he knows nothing because he moved away weeks before Ki Tae’s suicide. He also says that Ki Tae’s best friend was actually Dong Yoon. The teacher asks Hee Joon to trace down their third friend, but Dong Yoon has dropped out of school completely. Something happened with these three, and the result was Ki Tae’s suicide. As the father searches for answers, he soon realizes even his very love for his son may disappear in the bleakness of the night. Bleak Night is written and directed by Yoon Sung Hyun. The film released on March 3, 2011, nearly five months after debuting at the Pusan International Film Festival. A “festival darling,” Bleak Night earned rave reviews upon release, netting some of the industry’s largest awards for its relatively inexperienced crew, with particular praise for actor Lee Je Hoon and director Yoon Sung Hyun.
