Hamsun
Novelist Knut Hamsun (Max von Sydow) became a hero in his native Norway when he won the Nobel Prize in Literature for his work Growth of Soil. His wife Maria (Ghita Norby) was not nearly as revered but nevertheless highly respected. That is until their political views clashed with those of their fellow countrymen in the wake of the Nazi invasion and occupation during World War II. This biopic by Jan Troell covers this period in Hamsun’s life and the lasting impact his allegiances had on his family.
