The movie takes place in Mekong Delta in 1990s. Thien Tam - a 22 year-old boy – goes back home from hospital after 6-month treatment from an accident that he can barely recall. He finds out that his dearest cousin (Hai Lầm) is missing while his family is all acting weird. He tries to figure out what happened to her while his family only urges him to get the deeds from his paralyzed grandfather. The eerie lullaby "Bac Kim Thang" and a nightmarish scarecrow wearing "áo bà ba", both appear every night, which make him extremely traumatic. One day, he gets into a real panic when discovering the biggest secret in his family...
