The coincidental connections between three women in Tel Aviv, serve as a narrative thread in this film by the husband and wife team of Etgar Keret and Shira Geffen. Keren's (Noa Raban) wedding is the primary point in the plot where all three women come together, as both Batia (Sarah Ader) and Joy (Ma-nenita De Latorre) are working the wedding: Batia as a waitress and Joy as a caregiver to one of the attendees. The lives these ladies lead in this coastal city display the everyday challenges faced by the people of modern Israel, from an accident that hampers Keren's honeymoon to the immigrant experience Joy faces as a Filipino who was forced to leave her child behind. Batia faces a trying situation as well when she discovers a mute girl by the seaside and ultimately feels compelled to help her out. A favorite among festivalgoers, this foreign film presents familiar stories in a thought-provoking way, making it worthy of your consideration.
