My Mexican Shivah

My Mexican Shivah

Available on Pantaya, Prime Video
The passing of a Mexican Jew makes for a difficult set of funeral arrangements in this film. Moishe was a happy-do-lucky guy living in Mecixo's City Jewish quarter until the day he died. He left behind many friends but the folks he left to arrange the funeral don't have much good to say for him. Esther, his daughter has long been bitter. Ricardo didn't care much for his dad and he is more concerned about the unexpected pregnancy of his short term girlfriend. The grandson fleed Mexico on drug charges and came back as a reactionary Orthodox and didn't have anything good to say about his granfather's lifestyle. The local Rabbi wants to direct the funeral his own way without any consideration of Moshe's views of the world.
