The Second World War. The battle for Ukraine. Over 4 million people were involved in the campaign to liberate the towns and villages of the country. To this day, historians still consider it a miracle that Soviet troops were able to force their way across the Dnieper and break Hitler's supposedly impregnable Panther-Wotan line.
