Pan Tadeusz
Set in 1811, two Polish families, the Soplicas and the Horeszkos, are embroiled in a bitter feud over differences arising from a bloody night when the dashing Jacek Soplica (Bogusław Linda) was rejected as a suitor for Count Horeszko’s daughter and took advantage of a Russian assault on the count’s castle to kill him. At that moment, the count’s faithful warden, the hulking, scarred Gervais (Daniel Olbrychski) vowed vengeance. Years later, the matter remains unresolved and Jacek’s brother (Andrzej Seweryn), the judge, is locked in a lawsuit over the castle while his nephew Tadeusz (Michał Żebrowski) becomes smitten with Zosia (Alicja Bachleda-Curuś), the beautiful ward of his manipulative aunt Telimena (Grażyna Szapołowska).
