Based on the true story of the Sobibor extermination camp uprising during WWII, led by POW Soviet officer Alexander Pechersky. Sobibor was one of four concentration camps in Poland and prisoners who arrived there were doomed for death. With the greatest of odds against him, Alexander Pechersky managed to do the impossible - in only three weeks he organised a daring revolt, which aided the mass escape of Sobibor's condemened prisoners. Some escapees were captured and shot but the rest escaped and joined the resistance to fight the Nazis. The mass escape was such an embarrassment to the Nazis that Himmler ordered the camp to be razed to the ground.
