The Dark Angel
World War I. When his leave is cancelled, Allen Trent (Fredric March) and his fiancee, Kitty Vane (Merle Oberon), spend what could be their last night together at a country inn, pretending to be married. The next day, Gerald Shannon (Herbert Marshall), who also loves Kitty, wrongly accuses Allen of spending the night with a stranger. To protect Kitty’s name, Allen doesn't deny the charge. Angry and jealous, Gerald allows Allen to volunteer for a dangerous mission, from which he never returns. After the war, Gerald and Kitty are plagued by the belief that they each had a hand in causing Allen‘s death. Neither knows that Allen, though blind, is living just a few miles away - until a twist of fate reunites them.
