For years news coverage of the weather followed a fairly straightforward, dry approach until innovators such as Percy Saltzman began to put their twist on it. As the personalities presenting the weather became more lively, and the technology made it possible to follow major events in real-time, people began to turn to the weather channels as a more exciting version of reality television.
