When his bowling coach is savagely beaten to death, child prodigy AJ Files disappears on the west coast. Rumors swirl about his descent into drug addiction and depression, but no one has seen him in years. Meanwhile, Files's old buddies Tighe and Morgan aren't doing too much better back in their hometown. The factory has shut down and work is scarce. In a last-ditch effort to keep it all together, Tighe suggests heading out West to find jobs under suspicious circumstances. Morgan agrees, if only to track down the money owed him by the ever-elusive Barry. Soon enough, the boys find themselves under the thumb of local hustler Cadillac Jack. Cadillac’s got his hands in everything, from a chain of furniture stores to illegal gambling rings. He’s been trying to orchestrate a bowling re-match between Files and Files's old nemesis, Chris Babuik, for years, but it would take a miracle to get Files back on the lane. Babuik’s on the verge of suicide. He needs the re-match more than anyone. Tighe intercepts and squanders the money Barry owes Morgan, and now time is running out. They’re in over their heads with Cadillac. Will Files agree to the re-match if it's the only thing that could save his childhood friends?
