Zac Efron & Friends: School's Out

Available on Tubi TV
As the gang from Disneyʼs extremely popular High School Musical franchise prepare to graduate in the third movie, High School Musical 3, tweenies everywhere are in panic mode, wondering whatʼs to become of the actors that brought their favorite characters – including Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay and Ryan – to life. Schoolʼs Out charts the meteoric rise of Zac Efron, from a school kid who had to chase girls to get them to go out with him to the heart throb he is today, adored by millions of 13 year olds around the world (and some of their mums!). Of the cast of High School Musical, the actor most likely to enjoy a career outside of Disneyʼs most famous franchise is Efron. As his foray into romantic comedy – 17 Again – shows, heʼs more than just a one-trick pony. But Zac and his cast-mates should never forget the vehicle that brought them so much success and adulation. From the moment it was broadcast (originally on the Disney Channel) HSM was a hit, propelling Efron, his co- star and girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, as well as the rest of the cast (Ashley Tisdale, Monique Coleman and Corbin Bleu) into the stratosphere. Soundtracks and sequels followed, and merchandise sales soared. Efron didnʼt stop at HSM, however, joining the cast of Hairspray along with John Travolta, Christopher Walken and James Marsden. The movie was a hit, ensuring that Zac had a career outside of the franchise. At the premiere of High School Musical 3, Zac and Vanessa told reporters they could were glad to be able to portray their characterʼs trials and tribulations in high school, and that they felt the movies gave teenagers going through the same troubles in real life, something they can relate to. But for Efron, Hudgens and co, itʼs off to the next challenge: establishing a career after “graduation”.
