Jodi Balfour

South African actor Jodi Balfour made a name for herself with her roles on the TV shows "Bomb Girls" (Global Univision Canada, 2012-13), "Quarry" (Cinemax, 2016), and "Rellik" (BBC One, 2017). Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Balfour always had a desire to entertain people. That noted, she saw television as the most worthwhile medium to achieve that feat. By the early 2000s, when she was still in her teens, Balfour was co-hosting a youth TV show called "Bling" in her native South Africa. The show made her a recognizable face in her native country, but Balfour longed for more. She wanted to be an actor, so Balfour enrolled in the drama program at the University of Cape Town. After earning her BFA in Theater and Performance from the school in 2009, Balfour embarked on a career as a professional screen actress. She nabbed her first screen acting role in 2009 on the NBC series "The Philanthropist" (NBC, 2009), and followed that up with parts in the films "Vampire" (2011) and "Final Destination 5" (2011). With her screen acting career starting to gain steam, Balfour landed her first big break in 2012 when she was cast on the Canadian TV series "Bomb Girls." She appeared on all 18 episodes of the show, which ran from 2012 to 2013. After her run on "Bomb Girls" ended, Balfour appeared in a number of films, including "The Husband" (2013), "Afterparty" (2013), and "Almost Anything" (2015). Balfour returned to TV acting in 2016 when she was cast on the American series "Quarry," which ran on Cinemax. Then she was cast as one of the leads on the crime series "Rellik" (BBC 2017-).
