Annalise Keating is a tough as nails Criminal Law Professor. In her class, “How to Get Away with Murder,” Annalise challenges her students to solve some of the most difficult criminal cases that her law firm takes on, and in the end, she selects a group of the smartest, most promising students to come work for her.

Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and the detectives of the Special Victims Unit investigate the alleged rape of a sorority pledge on a college campus. Their attempts to piece together the events of the crime are thwarted by drunk students and conflicting accounts. As the detectives pursue the case, they unearth a widespread university culture of school administrators and students that look the other way instead of protecting their own.

Annalise helps a soccer mom get released from jail after she was arrested for a misdemeanor, but just as she's about to walk free, she's arrested again by the FBI in connection for felony murder. Annalise and her students are tasked with proving her innocence which will depend on the testimony from another suspect in the case.

When a devoutly religious young woman is found murdered in a cemetery, Danny questions her family who is shocked to learn that she had a secret relationship.

Captain Nathaniel Barnes (new series regular Michael Chiklis) is called to duty to create a law-abiding task force with the help of Gordon. Meanwhile Penguin gets caught up in a favor for Galavan; and Nygma asks Kringle out on a date.
