Season 1

Bear Grylls drops a group of twelve ordinary people onto a remote island in the Pacific for the ultimate challenge; with only the clothes on their backs and a few tools, they have to figure out how to survive for five weeks.

The islanders struggle with sleep deprivation and an insect infestation. Jack manages to wrestle a half-eaten iguana from a python, providing a much-needed meal. Desperation sets in as the group realizes their water source is running dry.

The islanders relocate on the island to secure a water source. Ravenous hunger soon sets in, and Jack leads some into the jungle to hunt for food. Meanwhile, some of the hidden cash has been found and stashed -- unbeknownst to some in the group.

The islanders are three weeks in to their challenge and struggling to survive. The group has gone seven days without a real meal, and tensions over money are high. Morag's frustration boils over, and Jack and Ben take on Marco in a race for cash.

The end is in sight for the islanders, who have fought hunger and each other in their search for the hidden cash. Morag puts her life on the line out of sheer desperation, and Ivar navigates a search for water after a high tide threatens the camp.

Host Bear Grylls returns to pick up the islanders, who reflect on how they coped with the brutal conditions and with each other. They reveal how the hidden cash motivated them to explore more of the island, helping provide the camp with food.
