Teenage Will moves from the tough streets of West Philadelphia to a posh mansion in Bel-Air, California, to live with his Uncle Philip, Aunt Vivian, his cousins — spoiled Hilary, preppy Carlton and young Ashley — and their sophisticated British butler, Geoffrey. Will’s upbringing contrasts greatly with this new upper-class lifestyle, and he struggles with integrating into the family or to hold tight to his former ways. Ashley’s growing admiration for Will causes her parents to worry whether he might be a bad influence. Plus, Carlton’s privileged lifestyle is challenged by old prejudices as he is arrested for driving a friend’s car. All of these stories and more begin this landmark first season of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
