Season 2

Detective Inspector Rachita Ray is promoted to the Homicide team, but soon questions whether she’s there to ‘tick a box’ after being briefed on her ‘Culturally Specific Homicide’ case, involving the murder of a Muslim man. Rachita’s team believes the murder was a so-called honor killing, but Rachita isn’t convinced and goes against the wishes of her superior officer in search of the truth.

Rachita goes back to work against DC Henderson’s wishes. Everyone around Rachita still believes this is an honor killing, but her findings point to the contrary. As Rachita gets closer to the truth, she finds herself in danger, but the team is skeptical when she reports the threat. A new lead comes through via CCTV, but further investigations lead to even worse discoveries.

The body count continues to rise as Rachita as the team uncover more evidence leading them to believe they are dealing with highly dangerous organized criminals who are one step ahead. As Rachita and Tony grow closer, she unwittingly draws him into danger.

Fuelled by tragedy, Rachita seeks out Intelligence and tries to set up a meeting with the informant’s handler. She believes the controller holds valuable information that will crack the case. After discovering surprising evidence, Rachita is forced to confront a devastating truth that has a huge impact on both her investigation and her personal life.

Two months after her suspension, DI Rachita Ray is thrust back into homicide after a fatal drive-by shooting outside a Birmingham hospital leaves two dead: a young nurse, Megan Parks, and the head of a notorious local crime syndicate, Frank Chapman. DI Ray is in a race against time to uncover the truth before the Chapman family act out their revenge and an all-out gang war erupts onto the streets.

Having lost trace of two kidnappers in a daring car chase, DI Ray must team up with the Serious Organized Crime unit to find her prime suspect before it’s too late. The team uncover a sinister link between the Chapmans and Mochanis when a photo is discovered on Rav’s laptop, and Sharan Mochani receives an ultimatum. Rachita’s faith in her team is shaken when her behavior is brought into question.
