Chapter One
Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) is a driven young woman studying to become a teacher, nursing a dream to be a writer, and supporting herself with a job at a hot new Miami hotel. All of Jane's meticulous life plans are turned upside down, however, when she sees her doctor for a routine check-up and is accidentally artificially inseminated with a specimen meant for someone else. Now, Jane is faced with the most important decisions of her life, a life that has suddenly become as dramatic, complicated and unpredictable as the telenovelas she has always loved.

Chapter Two
Jane (Gina Rodriguez) struggles to keep her unexpected pregnancy from taking over her life, but with her mom Xiomara (Andrea Navedo) pressuring her to sue the doctor who accidently inseminated her, and her constant run-ins with the baby's biological father, Rafael (Justin Baldoni), life is anything but normal. To top it off, Michael's (Brett Dier) jealousy about Jane and Rafael's past leads him to make an unexpected alliance with Petra (Yael Grobglas). Meanwhile, Jane's own father, Rogelio (Jaime Camil), is insisting on meeting his daughter, but Xiomara wants to keep the secret from Jane a little while longer.

Chapter Three
Jane (Gina Rodriguez) considers making a life-changing decision about her and Michael's (Brett Dier) relationship. Alba (Ivonne Coll) is disappointed in Xo's (Andrea Navedo) handling of Rogelio (Jaime Camil), so Alba takes it into her own hands to stop Rogelio from trying to see Jane. Meanwhile, Jane continues to question whether Petra (Yael Grobglas) will be a fit mother, and her pursuit of the truth leads to an unexpected change in their relationship. Michael's on-going murder investigation leads to an unexpected discovery. Justin Baldoni also stars.

Chapter Four
In addition to being overwhelmed with all the wedding planning, Jane (Gina Rodriguez) begins to feel guilty about her emerging feelings towards Rafael (Justin Baldoni) and decides to tell Michael (Brett Dier) during their pre-wedding counseling. Elsewhere, Rafael and Petra (Yael Grobglas) are faced with someone from their past and neither are happy about it. Meanwhile, Rogelio (Jaime Camil) learns about Jane's impending nuptials and pushes Xo (Andrea Navedo) to let him be part of his daughter's wedding. Ivonne Coll also stars.

Chapter Five
Furious at her mother Xo (Andrea Navedo), Jane (Gina Rodriguez) decides she needs some space and moves in with her fiance, Michael (Brett Dier). However, living together isn't what she thought it would be and Jane has to rethink her plans. Jane makes an effort to get to know Rogelio (Jaime Camil), but when his nerves get the better of him, things don't go quite as planned. Meanwhile, Rafael (Justin Baldoni) and Petra (Yael Grobglas) continue to struggle with the state of their marriage, but Petra has another unusual plan up her sleeve. Ivonne Coll also stars.

Chapter Six
Jane (Gina Rodriguez) and Rogelio (Jaime Camil) begin to grow closer until she meets his mean twin teenage stepdaughters, who are determined to make her life miserable. Rogelio insists Xo (Andrea Navedo) uses his band for her big performance at the Mirabella Hotel, but the band is not what she was expecting. Elsewhere, Rafael (Justin Baldoni) finds himself arrested after Petra (Yael Grobglas) files a complaint against him. Meanwhile, Jane is conflicted about the direction of her relationship with Michael (Brett Dier) and what will be the best choice for her. Ivonne Coll also stars.
