A Touch of Frost

While on a missing-persons case, Frost discovers the remains of someone else: a bank clerk who had vanished with a large sum of money 30 years earlier. When the assistant bank manager is killed with the same gun as the clerk had been, Frost must figure out who else had taken part in the robbery.

Still grieving for his recently deceased wife, Frost takes on a new investigation: the search for a teenage girl who disappeared while delivering newspapers in the neighborhood. Meanwhile, a wealthy rare-books dealer is killed in a fire at his home, and Frost has a suspect in mind.

Superintendent Mullet believes Frost is conducting a witch hunt by trying to connect a prominent politician’s son to a local casino robbery. Also under suspicion is one of Frost’s officers, who is accused of stealing jewelry. Correct conclusions get even harder to draw when the officer turns up dead.

A string of commercial burglaries seems linked to minority youth from a nearby housing project. A black detective constable comes in to assist Frost in the investigation. Racial tensions mount after the arrest of a suspect and the killing of a police informant.

Someone is preying on the most vulnerable, carrying out break-ins and thefts from seniors in care homes. Helping Frost in the case is Detective Sergeant Maureen Lawson, who also takes it upon herself to offer the widower advice on his personal life.

The death of a young junkie is dismissed as a drug overdose until an autopsy reveals he was beaten to death. Helping Frost on the case is a recently demoted officer who has some experience using his fists. Also on Frost’s radar is the burgeoning relationship between Superintendent Mullett and Constable Hazel Wallace.
