Inside Solitary Confinement: Redeemed
In 2010, Colorado State Penitentiary was a leading example in solitary confinement. They used a complex level system that allowed prisoners to work their way out of solitary and back into the general prison population. But many never made it out, spending years in a cell the size of a parking spot. And when their sentences were up, they were released back into society – straight from solitary – often damaged from years of isolation.
